Volleyball Rankings Shake-Up as Nebraska Goes Unanimous at No. 1 |
The new AVCA poll rewards Vanderbilt and SMU after a chaotic college volleyball week sends Texas A&M tumbling |

The dust from a wild college volleyball week has settled, and the new volleyball rankings tell the story.
Nebraska sits alone on top, and for the first time this fall nobody argued.
The Huskers collected all 63 first-place votes in the AVCA poll after improving to 17-0, still the only unbeaten team in Division I.
Right behind them, Pitt held firm at No. 2 at 15-1, and it earned that spot the hard way.
Days after a stunning home loss to SMU ended its perfect start, the Panthers flew to Dallas and answered with a 25-12, 25-21, 26-24 sweep in front of 4,564 fans.
Olivia Babcock pounded 20 kills, Abbey Emch walled off the Mustangs with nine blocks, and Pitt hit .367 for the afternoon.
SMU still climbed a spot to No. 5 at 13-3, proof that splitting with the No. 2 team is a resume builder.
Louisville and Kentucky held steady at third and fourth. |

The real shake-up came from Sunday's upset spree.
Florida slid from fifth to seventh after falling in four at Vanderbilt, and the Commodores crashed the Top 25 at No. 24 with a 13-2 record.
For a program revived only recently after a 45-year absence, that debut is a big deal.
Arizona State jumped from 11th to eighth after a 25-16, 25-17, 25-10 demolition of TCU, which dropped to 10th.
Texas tumbled from ninth to 12th at 8-6 after being swept by Oklahoma, which collected 36 votes but stayed just outside the rankings.
The steepest fall belonged to defending national champion Texas A&M, which plunged seven spots to No. 19 at 10-7 after losing at Arkansas.
Purdue, BYU and Penn State all rose three spots, to 13th, 14th and 15th.
The takeaway for fans and families is simple.
Mid-October is when resumes harden, and every upset now ripples straight into NCAA tournament seeding. |

Pitt flying to Dallas and sweeping SMU on their own floor is such a power move. That team did not come to mess around.
Nebraska getting all 63 first-place votes is just absurd in the best way. Nobody even tried to vote around them. 17-0 and it's not even close.
Nebraska getting all 63 first place votes at 17-0 is honestly kind of absurd. Nobody is even close to touching them right now. Would love to see them match up with Pitt later in the season just to see how that goes.
